Bracelet Body Instructions
Foundation
Ch 10.
Row 1:
Hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 hdc)
Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2–4 (Foundation Rows):
Hdc in each st across. (9 hdc)
Ch 1, turn.
Design note: These rows establish vertical authority before the slot.
Slot Formation — Slip-Stitch Bridge Method (Default)
Row 5 (Slot Row):
Sl st in first 2 sts,
ch 5,
sl st in last 2 sts.
Ch 1, turn.
This creates a firm, straight bottom edge for the slot.
Slot Reinforcement
Row 6:
Hdc in first 2 sts,
hdc 5 into the chain space,
hdc in last 2 sts.
(9 hdc)
Ch 1, turn.
Stabilization
Row 7:
Hdc in each st across. (9 hdc)
Ch 1, turn.
Continue Bracelet
Repeat hdc in each st across until bracelet measures 7–8 in from the slot opening, or desired length.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Button Attachment (Primary Method)
This attachment is structural and subtle, designed to integrate with the fabric.
- With 2.0 mm hook, join yarn at desired button position.
- Ch 3–5, keeping chain tight and controlled.
- Thread chain through:
- button holes
- bracelet fabric
- On the back of the bracelet:
- sl st into a stitch column to anchor
- ch 1
- sl st again into adjacent stitch
- Fasten off and weave in ends vertically.
Design note:
The chain does not need to read clearly as a chain — it functions as a connector.
Wearing the Bracelet
- Pass button through the horizontal slot.
- Slot should feel firm, calm, and easy to use one-handed.
- Button should sit flat against the band.
Notes and Variations

Variations (Optional)
Variation A — Softer Slot
Instead of the slip-stitch bridge:
- Work hdc 2, ch 5, hdc 2 on slot row.
- Best with one extra foundation row for support.
Variation B — Crisp Slot Edge
Work reinforcement row into each chain stitch individually instead of into the chain space.
Variation C — Button Options
- Flat sew-through buttons
- Post buttons
- Alternate attachment chains (length, placement)
